Betelgeuse, alpha Orionis, is the second brightest star in Orion and one of the brightest of all stars that we see from Earth. It is also one of the largest stars known. However, there may be some uncertainty about how far away it is from Earth.
A search of the web came up with the following listed distances (in light years) to Betelgeuse, each with at least one website that cite that distance. I didn't check what source(s) the websites use. It looks like the most recognized distance is around 427 light years, but a second favorite is about 600 to 650.
