A note on the surname Chis...m:  There seems to be evidence that both of the grandfathers of my grandmother Evalina Chism were actually (or should have been) surnamed Chisholm. (And anyway it seems likely, since the Chisholm name is a very old one.)

The surnames of my known great-great-great-grandparents are Allen, Askey, Bennett, Brown, Byars, Cannon, Cartwright, Chisholm and/or Chism, Daily, Devore, Greer, Grove(s), Johnson, Keller, Killion, Muck, Neafus, Rennels, Sewell, Shaw, Singleton, Stark, Tibbs, and Youtsler.

Farther back in my past (at least possibly) are the surnames Alexander, Baker, Blair, Boren, Bushrod, Crow, Doggett, Enlow, Evans, Gower, Hayworth, Hughes, Hull, Ingleman, Johnston, Langley, Martin, McKnitt, Pennington, Pound, Richtmeyer, Ross, Shumate, Smith, Snap, Sowell, Swanzey, Stephenson, Stripling, Venard, Vineyard, Wallace, Willen, Winn, Wiseman.

I am a fourth cousin of Laura Bush (through the "Chisolm" line, as they spell it in her genealogy).

Primary locations of interest in relation to my grandparents and before them are Greenwood County, Kansas, and Meade County, Kentucky. Farther in the past my ancestors lived in the Midwest (Ohio, Indiana, Illinois), Missouri, Virginia, and the Carolinas, as well as Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, and New England. To my knowledge so far, my Old World ancestors came from the Ireland, England, Scotland, Prussia, and Holland.
