(The following is missing one year's Perseids for sure, when I watched for two hours and counted 46 meteors. The term "Teff" means "effective time"; i.e., time actually looking at the sky and counting meteors.)
1993, August Perseids, my first attempt at observing a meteor shower. From 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., from a site east of Austin, I counted 80 Perseids in those four hours. I didn't know then that I started looking and quit way too early.
1994, August Perseids. Counted 6 Perseids in one hour and then gave up; don't (yet) have further details about when (time of night), conditions, etc.
1996, August Perseids, post-maximum. On Aug. 13, 5:30-7:30 UT (2.0 hours Teff, about 16-18 hours after the traditional maximum), I observed at least 46, 8 or 9 of which were not Perseids. Being almost a day after the maximum, I was a little surprised to see so many. I was about 30-35 miles northwest of Austin, TX, probably at about 800 feet altitude, in western Williamson County. I think the limiting magnitude was about 5.0.
1996, December Geminids, my second meteor shower. Without trying very hard because I was satellite observing also that morning, I counted 15 or 16 Geminids (one was uncertain) from the middle of the city of Austin.
1998, June June Bootids. At a star party at Canyon of the Eagles (about 30.884N, 98.430W, 365 meters), as soon as it got dark, those of us there noticed an unusual number of meteors falling straight down from the near the zenith. Regrettably, I did not try to count any. After getting back home and searching on the Internet, I learned that we had seen an unexpected outburst of June Bootids, which had not been seen to do much of anything for many years.
1998, November 17 Leonids. Observed from Enchanted Rock State Park, Texas. During the period 9:00-12:30 UTC, in approximately 3.00 hours Teff, I counted 233 Leonids, 17 Taurids, and 8 sporadics. LM was probably as good as +6.0 and maybe better.
1998, December 13 Geminids, pre-maximum. Observed from grounds of Elisabet Ney Museum (about 30.307N, 97.727W, 150m). Limiting magnitude was not good, maybe worse than +4.5 I called this a practice night. In .50 hour Teff, standing up, I counted 10 Geminids and 2 others. Outside of Teff I saw 2 more GEM and one more other.
1998, December 14 Geminids. Observed from Canyon of the Eagles (about 30.884N, 98.430W, 365 meters). LM was probably around +6.0. In 2.483 hours Teff, I counted 263 Geminids and 25 others. Casually (during the gaps between the above "formal" times and for 20 minutes after, while getting ready to leave), I counted 107 more Geminids and 11 more sporadics.
1998, December 15 Geminids, post-maximum. Observed from Bee Cave Research Center, Austin (about 30.315 north, 97.866 west, 280 meters). LM about +5.0 or not that good. In 1.00 hour Teff, I counted either 12 Geminids and 16 others, or 14 Geminids and 14 others. Two were ambiguous.
1999, August 12 Perseids, pre-maximum morning. Observed from Bee Cave Research Center, Austin (about 30.315 north, 97.866 west, 280 meters). In 1.083 hour Teff, I counted 20 Perseids and 5 others. There were a few thin clouds part of the time.
1999, December 14 Geminids. Observed from Bee Cave Research Center, Austin (about 30.315 north, 97.866 west, 280 meters). In 1.333 hour Teff during 07:45-09:55, I counted 101 Geminids and 9 others.
2000, January 4 Quadrantids. Observed from approx. 30.25N, 98.25W, 350m (about 45-50 km west of Austin, just south of Pedernales Falls State Park, Texas). Limiting magnitude was pretty good, about +5.5. Teff 1.333 hour between 6:19 and 7:56 UTC. I counted 14 Quadrantids and 13 others not too exciting.
2000, August 12 Perseids. Lots of moonlight. Seen from Pedernales Falls State Park, Texas (about 30.320N, 98.255W, 295m). In only 25 minutes (.417 hour during 5:00-5:29 Aug 12 UTC) I counted 10 Perseids and two others. We left soon after 2:00 a.m. local time, primarily due to moonrise.
2000, August 13 Perseids. Observed from Bee Cave Research Center, Austin (about 30.315 north, 97.866 west, 280 meters). In .583 (35 minutes) Teff, I counted 15 Perseids and one other. In total, I counted 24 PER and two others. Moon had set, but there were some cloud problems. LM was brighter than +5.0.
2000, December 22 Ursids. Observed from a site east of Elgin (30.32N, 97.22W, 150m). In 2.0 hours Teff (effective counting time), I counted 25 Ursids and 29 others.
2001, June 27 June Bootids. Observed from Bee Cave Research Center, Austin (about 30.315 north, 97.866 west, 280 meters). In 1.03 hour Teff, I counted zero June Bootids and 8 others. The limiting magnitude was not very good, perhaps about +4.5.
2001, October 20 Orionids. Observed from Mt. Bonnell, a hilltop park in Austin (about 30.321N, 97.773W, 270m). Limiting magnitude was between +4.5 and +5. In 1.0 hour Teff, I counted 7 Orionids and one other.
2001, October 21 Orionids. Again at Mt. Bonnell. In .90 hour Teff, I counted 5 Orionids and 3 others.
2001, November 18 Leonids. Observed from several miles southeast of Pecos, Texas (about 31.3N, 103.4W, 800m). In 1.85 hour Teff, I counted 1,113 Leonids and 26 others. I had to quit early due to fog, and I got started late due partly to trying to escape fog and partly due to trying to find a good place to stop.
2001, December 14 Geminids. Observed from my cousins' house in Dripping Springs, Texas (about 30.190N, 98.086W, 300 m.). In 1.17 hour Teff, I counted 100 Geminids and 14 others.
2002, November 19 Leonids. Observed from Canyon of the Eagles, Burnet County, Texas (about 30.891N, 98.426W, 335 m.). In 1.40 hours Teff, I counted 436 Leonids and 3 others. See detailed report.
2003, November 19 Leonids. Observed from east of Elgin, Texas (about 30.37N, 97.22W, 150 m.). In 2.583 hours Teff, I counted 36 Leonids and 23 others. I saw three more Leonids (including the brightest meteor of the morning) and one other in unofficial time.
2004, December 13 Geminids. Observed from Dripping Springs, Texas (about 30.190N, 98.086W, 300 m.). In 1.667 hour Teff, I counted 169 Geminids and 20 others. The brightest meteor was at least -5, a GEM I saw before I started officially counting.
2004, December 14 Geminids. Observed from Pedernales Falls State Park, TX (about 30.320N, 98.255W, 295m). In 1.50 hour Teff, I counted 172 Geminids and 26 others.
2006, November 18 Leonids. Observed from east of Elgin, Texas (about 30.30N, 97.00W, 150 m.). In 1.167 hours Teff, I counted 13 Leonids and 9 others.
